Festivals & events

The area around Asti and Alba has many annual events which are usually great experiences. Our own village, Vaglio Serra, invites you to a festival with food, beverages and entertainment mid-july. October – November, the famous truffles festival takes place in nearby village Alba. This is an event that attracts guests from all over the world. For those who seek a pacier activity we recommend the horse race Palio di Asti in September and the festival adherent to it.

Hiking & cycling

Asti and Piedmont are famous for their rolling 1000-year-old vineyard landscapes, inscribed in the UNESCO World Heritage list, for their numerous picturesque villages and the views over the surrounding mountains. North of Vaglio Serra you find the big Italian lakes, and the Mediterranean Sea is only a car trip away, towards the south. The area is perfect for hikes and runs. Nice hiking routes and running tracks can be found in the nearby village Vinchio. Here are also enjoyable bicycle routes, as well as many golf courses. Only a couple of hours away you find some of Italy’s best skiing areas, for example Sestriere where the Winter Olympic Games were held in 2006.

Cities worth a visit

The nearby city Asti, with its Roman ruins and magnificent medieval palaces and churches, is well worth a visit. So is the neighboring city Alba, famous for its unique white truffles. The big city Turin (Torino in Italian), located approximately 50 kilometers from Vaglio Serra, offers historic architecture and a large supply of shopping and other pleasures. Several smaller cities, such as Barolo, Barbaresco (both famous for their wines) and Acqui Terme are also nice trip destinations.
